Teaching

From 1978 to 1984, Dr. Bruce was a full-time faculty member at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he continues to participate in medical education as a Clinical Associate Professor in addition to his private practice.
He also lectures on the diagnosis and treatment of vitreoretinal disease for ophthalmology and optometric continuing education programs. He authored Anesthesiology for Ophthalmology, and contributed to three other textbooks.

Research and Special Interests

Dr. Bruce has published numerous research articles on photo radiation therapy of malignant choroidal melanoma and other topics. His special interests include diagnosis and treatment of Diabetic Eye Disease, Retinal Vascular Disease, Macular Degeneration, Complications of Intraocular Lens Implantation, Retinal Detachment, and Ocular Trauma.

Affiliations

Dr. Bruce is a member of several professional associations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons (Fellow, 1982), American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology (Fellow 1978), Ohio Ophthalmological Association, Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and American Society of Retina Specialists (Charter Member, 1983) He also served as president of Grant Medical Center staff and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, and Maxillofacial Surgery at Grant Medical Center from 1992 to 1994.
