Robert B. Chambers, D.O.
Teaching Dr. Chambers has been on the faculty of the Department of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University since 1984 as an Assistant Clinical Professor, an Assistant Professor and currently as a Clinical Associate Professor. He served as Residency Program Director for 11 years and as Director of the Retina Service. He has authored 56 scientific papers, book chapters and has been an invited speaker at national meetings. Awarded the Makely-Battles teaching award given to the Resident “Teacher of the Year” on three separate occasions, he has also been honored as the OSU Department of Ophthalmology’s Outstanding Teacher in the OSU College of Medicine. He has also held the William H. Havener Chair for teaching and scholarship. Research and Clinical Interests Dr. Chambers has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on 14 scientific studies funded by the National Eye Institute and by grants from industry. His clinical and research interests include Age Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Detachment Surgery and Ocular Melanoma. He chose to enter private practice to be able to focus more fully on clinical care of patients with these conditions.
